Tourism | A Right Royal Holiday [sponsored by travelizer.co.uk]
(I was approached by Victoria from travelizer.co.uk and I was asked to share with you guys their amazing press release. Because the Diamond Jubilee is hitting full throttle, I thought their timing was nothing short of perfect)
With the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee twinkling just around the corner, at travel comparison site, travelizer.co.uk, we started to pose some very serious question about the British Monarchy.
Which royal would we like to jet off with on holiday? Would Prince Charles let his hair down? How much fun in the sun would we have with Wills and Kate?
Royal nominations for travelizer’s highly coveted holiday-ability award line up as follows:
1. The Queen
Style: discreet, homely, fabulously British & board-game-loving with a penchant for horses and corgis.
Pros: snazzy Scottish castle, eponymous African national park & royal treatment guaranteed.
Cons: potential husband embarrassment factor. Not for lefties or the budget-conscious with a short Scotland cruise setting Britain back £1 million simply for security & the cost of the extra bank holiday toting up to as much as £3.5 billion!
Perfect holiday: dog walking in Scotland
2. Charles & Camilla
Style: eclectically understated from skiing at Klosters to beer and ice cream in Devon.
Pros: Duchy of Cornwall (handy for surfing & cream teas) with a little light eccentricity (symptoms include
talking to plants).
Cons: a tad too tranquil and certainly not for atheists – limited partying potential in Greek Orthodox monasteries on Mount Athos. Umbrellas may be required with the prince-turned-weatherman predicting rain!
Perfect holiday: skiing at an elegant alpine lodge
3. William & Kate
Style: a modern mix of luxury (£3,700-a-night Seychelles hotels) and credit crunch conscience (easyJet flights to Geneva for skiing).
Pros: 1 year of marriage and 5 glam destinations: Seychelles, Canada, French Alps, Los Angeles and Gran’s place – aka Windsor Castle.
Cons: rather too couply, perfect and, dare we say it, predictable (rebellious siblings aside).
Perfect holiday: romantic Caribbean beach escape
Style: fun-loving with sprinkling of rebellion – think rum-sipping streets parties in Belize and reggae dancing in Jamaica.
Pros: never a dull moment with this prince in shining armour (who rescues fallen polo players in Brazil). Fully clothed swimming pool dipping at night clubs in Hvar and beach ‘n’ banquet tours around the Caribbean included.
Cons: unpredictable with occasional political incorrectness (colonial fancy dress parties and uninvited photos best avoided) – not for the unadventurous.
Perfect holiday: extreme sports in New Zealand
And the royal winner is…
After careful consideration and debate, the travelizer prize for holiday-ability is awarded to Prince Harry for the irresistible combination of fun, sun and what-the-hell attitude.
Do you agree? Who would you choose to share a suitcase with?
