Over £100,000 raised after British hairdresser sadly passes away…

Claire Squires, from North Kilworth in Leicestershire, collapsed at Birdcage Walk, near St James’s Park, having completed more than 25 miles of the 26.2mile course. She was given medical attention at the scene but died yesterday afternoon. Her death was the tenth since the London Marathon began in 1981. Miss Squires had raised more than £500 for the Samaritans on JustGiving.com with the message, ‘It’s a fab opportunity to raise money for my charity.’ Today that figure has rocketed to over £110,000.

I found this piece of news devastating. I am so, so sorry that Claire has passed  away… Whilst sad, I am grateful for all the money raised in her memory. Rest in peace, Claire Squires.

  1. The response is very moving. I hope her family can take some heart from it.
